Tenant Solicitors

Tenant solicitors will be able to help with any housing related problems.

Tenant solicitors advise residential and commercial tenants on legal issues arising from rented property.

A solicitor may assist with:

  • reviewing and negotiating tenancy agreements or commercial leases;
  • tenancy deposit protection and deposit disputes;
  • rent arrears and repayment arrangements;
  • disrepair and unsafe housing conditions;
  • service charges and other disputed payments;
  • rent increases;
  • landlord access, harassment and unlawful eviction;
  • possession notices and court proceedings;
  • lease renewals, assignments and termination;
  • commercial lease obligations; and
  • other disputes between tenants, landlords and letting agents.

Tenants should obtain advice promptly where they have received an eviction or possession notice, are experiencing serious disrepair or believe their landlord has acted unlawfully. Strict deadlines may apply.

Finding a Tenant Solicitor

Use the search facility at the top of this page to find a solicitor who represents residential or commercial tenants.

If you are a landlord, select "Landlord" as the area of law when searching. Not every property solicitor acts for both landlords and tenants, particularly where there may be a conflict of interest.

This information is general guidance and does not constitute legal advice about a particular tenancy or property dispute.
