Gay couple win landmark case for pension equality.

Slowly discrimination is being eroded in our legislation; the latest step was taken in the UK’s highest court where a gay man won the right for his partner to have the same pension rights as a wife would enjoy.
The Supreme Court in London gave a unanimous verdict that will help thousands of same sex partnerships.
The slightly disappointing aspect of this case was that the applicant had been defeated on previous occasions because it related to a period where the law did not recognise gay partnerships, a case of two wrongs not making a right!
Thankfully the Supreme Court overruled the decision, and it is hoped whist the government have said they are reviewing the implications it is anticipated that brexit will not affect its position on the statute books as the ruling has been made under EU Law.
